In recent days, drivers in urban areas, especially in Saigon, are very confused, worried, and afraid of being fined for traffic violations.
Traffic lights do not have stopwatches, making drivers afraid, having to wait until the light turns green before daring to go, just to be sure not violating traffic regulations. Stopping at red lights now is an extremely large pressure for drivers.
Places where traffic lights do not count seconds, are like traps, waiting for drivers to fall into them. In some places, the green light jumps numbers, it turns red before reaching 0. In some places, the green light is only 3 seconds, not enough time for vehicles to cross the stop line, causing most vehicles to fall into the trap.
There are also traffic checkpoints where the green and red lights are on at the same time, causing chaos, making vehicles not dare to move. Because if they go, they are afraid that the police will say they ran a red light and the fine for that will be VND20 million. But if they do not go, there will be serious traffic jams. An anonymous driver complained that from Phu My bridge in District 7 to Cat Lai intersection in District 2 is only a few kilometers, but it takes more than 1 hour to travel. The reason is that the intersections are jammed, because they are afraid of red lights.
The fact that the stopwatches do not jump correctly, or the green light does not give enough time for drivers to pass intersections, can be considered a “technical error” of the traffic light system. However, when a large proportion of traffic lights have “technical errors” at the same time, it is no longer a normal phenomenon. This makes people suspect that the government is plotting to trap people to extort their money.
On January 3, the press reported that the traffic light on National Highway 51 through Dong Nai was frozen, the red light did not turn green, causing drivers to not dare to drive, causing traffic jams lasting for kilometers. Meanwhile, the road in front of the light was quite clear.
“Who would dare to pass for VND19 million?” – a driver said in a clip.
Strict fines to bring the traffic system into order are necessary. However, before applying this policy, the government needs to synchronously implement support policies, including checking traffic lights at intersections, ensuring technical and smooth operation, creating conditions for smooth traffic, especially at major intersections, it is necessary to arrange traffic police to monitor and control traffic to change lights if the lights are faulty.
The question is, why are traffic police blocking the roads to force people to obey the law, but there are no traffic police on duty at major intersections to control traffic through intersections when the lights are faulty?
Is this a plot to trap people, not a technical error?
When major intersections have a series of “technical errors” but there are no traffic police to control traffic and change the lights, it will cause huge economic losses to the people, businesses and the country. If this is a sophisticated policy to pick the pockets of the people to support the police, then it is truly a policy to sabotage the country, and the person directly responsible is none other than Minister of Public Security Luong Tam Quang.
The traffic light system is managed by the Department of Transport. When the Ministry of Public Security issued a policy of heavy fines for red light violations, the Ministry of Transport also had to direct its affiliated departments to inspect traffic light systems to serve the people. However, it seems that the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Transport do not want to coordinate (or intentionally coordinate in the opposite direction), causing the people to suffer the consequences.
Making policies like the Communist government, only benefits officials and the Party while the country and the people suffer losses.
